JVAT Work Day

In recent times, there has been a great deal of information posted about how to work effectively from home. JVAT is a proudly agile organisation and we already have technology, systems and processes in place to work remotely. Our Project Management tool Wrike allows us to manage all of our engagements and workflow remotely. We collaborate internally and externally through video conferencing and maintain connection for internal communications via MS Teams.

We believe in working smarter, not harder, in being able to position, re-position, surge and relax work effort as required to ensure all our work is focused, targeted, efficient and effective. With this in mind, we believe that you should be able to structure your day in a way to ensure you can be most effective at different times of the day. Today we wanted to share the JVAT working day, to help others create the structure required to be effective during the day:
Prioritise – This is the time to prioritise, coordinate and communicate your daily goals. Writing them down has been scientifically proven to streamline your day and increase your effectiveness.
Focus Time – This is when we produce our best, focused, efficient and effective work. And there’s plenty of studies that demonstrate how one distraction (email, text) results in hours of lost focus. If it’s urgent, call. Do everything in your power to create a two to three hour window of Zen-like stillness where you preferably have only one thing to get done. Protect this time like your life depends on it.
Meet – Use this time to conduct short and snappy meetings bound to 20 minutes ensuring they have defined outcomes and result in clear actions. If they don’t have these aspects it wasn’t a meeting, it was just a chat.
Eat – Try not to eat at your desk. It’s good to take breaks and it’s bad for keyboard hygiene!
Creative Time – Let your creative juices flow – brainstorm, innovate and solve the unsolvable! It’s all about ideas. Big or small, the key is letting yourself explore them. Innovate on old ideas, or try and invent something totally new – your only limit here is what you put on yourself!
Organise – It’s almost time to finish up – let’s tick off those little side tasks and start planning for your next day to make your work as efficient as possible.
Breaks – Take them, it’s important. Every 45 minutes stand up, walk around and clear your brain. A 5-minute break can inspire your next 45-minute surge and save you hours in the end. It’s worth it.
At JVAT, we are always focused on high quality outcomes for our clients. By consistently creating structure and focus throughout our day, we can operate at our best, which means we are at our best for you.
