Community & Ethical Operations Statement
At JVAT, we recognise the importance of operating responsibly, with consideration for our people, communities, and the environment in which we work. Our approach is guided by our commitment to minimising environmental impacts, fostering a safe workplace, championing ethical practices, and engaging constructively with stakeholders.
Supporting Our Communities
We are committed to protecting the communities in which we operate by working to eliminate environmental impacts that may pose risks to people, property, or the natural environment. Our efforts are focused on prevention and continual improvement, ensuring that risks are identified, managed, and reduced wherever possible.
Environmental Responsibility
JVAT recognises that even in a low-impact industry, our operations can have environmental effects. To address this, we have established an environmental management system that not only seeks to minimise our footprint but also encourages awareness of our broader impact. Our approach includes:
- Setting and reviewing objectives and targets that help us continually improve and offset the impacts we do have.
- Regularly monitoring performance to ensure our environmental controls remain effective and relevant.
- Meeting applicable compliance obligations while making conscious choices, such as aiming to source responsibly and using energy efficiently.
Ethical Operations
We strive to ensure that our services and operations are delivered with integrity, responsibility, and transparency. This includes:
- Identifying and addressing environmental and social considerations.
- Training and educating our people to achieve JVAT’s objectives responsibly.
- Reviewing and evaluating our policies, practices, and training to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
Modern Slavery
JVAT is wholly committed to the prevention of modern slavery in the workplace.
We do not tolerate slavery and human trafficking in any of our operations including our supply chains. Where there is evidence of suspected or real actions by our employees or providers that are in breach of modern slavery legislation that is in place in any of the countries in which we operate, we will require that the non-compliance is remedied before allowing work to continue.
Actions that are deemed non-compliant include but are not limited to: engaging in forms of forced labour or human trafficking, engaging in child labour, withholding worker identity or immigration documents, charging workers or potential workers with recruitment fees as defined by legislation, and engaging with any supply chain organisations or individuals that do not comply with labour laws of the countries in which they operate in.
JVAT considers itself low risk to modern slavery legislation breaches, as our operations take place in low-risk countries and industries, however, even with the low to no risk that JVAT faces, we acknowledge our responsibility to ensure all employees are aware of modern slavery in the workplace, and how to identify the signs of slavery and human trafficking. JVAT also carries out detailed due diligence checks for all provider arrangements.
Ongoing Commitment
Our policies and practices are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain appropriate to JVAT and aligned with our objectives. We continue to improve by learning from experience, engaging openly with stakeholders, and strengthening our ability to operate responsibly and ethically.
